Here you will find step-by-step instructions for coloring our images with the new Stamp-n-Stencil Sets.
Supplies used for this tutorial:
- Jet Black & Banana Archival Ink
- Red Pepper & Lettuce Adirondack Ink
- Framed Lily Stamp-n-Stencil Set
- Stipple Brushes
- White card stock & scrap paper
Stamp image onto card stock using Jet Black Archival Ink.
Tip: A waterproof ink will insure that colors added during the coloring process will not bleed together.
Place first stencil over stamed image, make sure to aline it over the correct section of the image. We are starting with the foliage stencil first.
TIP: It does not matter which stencil you start with. All stencils will cover up the areas which have already been colored.
Inking up the stipple brush is easy!
Just tap the brush a few times directly into the ink pad.
Before you begin to color, tap lightly onto a piece of scrap paper. This will remove excess ink an give you a better ink balance on your brush.
Begin adding the color (lettuce) to the stamped image using a tap, tap, tap motion. Add more ink brush as needed.
Tip: If you are not comfortable holding the stencil in place while stippling, use a low-tack tape to secure it instead.
Continue adding color until the section is completely colored as desired.
Tip: Remember to add color lightly at first...you can always deepen the color by adding more ink as you go.
Remove first stencil and notice how your card is starting to take shape already.
Aline next stencil.
Using banana ink, color the entire Lily using the same tapping motion as with the first stencil.
Do not remove the stencil just yet! We want to add Red Pepper which will make this Lily orange.
Tip: Don't be afraid to blend colors, some of our most beautiful cards come from blending two different colors.
We have choosen to leave the center yellow and only the tips of of the lily will be orange.
Remove stencil.
Wow! Look how perfectly colored this Lily is.
To clean stencil: Gently wipe with a damp paper towel or baby wipe over scrap paper.
Embellish and finish card as desired.
